The Event Horizon Telescope

The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is a global network of radio telescopes that work together to create high-resolution images of black holes. By synchronizing observations across different locations, EHT can capture data from massive, distant black holes, including the one at the center of our galaxy. The “event horizon” is the boundary around a black hole beyond which nothing can escape. The EHT gained fame in 2019 for producing the first-ever image of a black hole, helping scientists understand these mysterious objects and confirming predictions of Einstein's theory of general relativity.
