The Disablement Income Group
The Disablement Income Group (DIG) was a UK government initiative that provided financial support to individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions who were unable to work. It aimed to assist those with substantial impairments by offering a regular income, helping cover living costs and promoting independence. The program recognized the challenges faced by people with disabilities in the job market and sought to alleviate financial hardship. Over time, the DIG has been replaced by different benefits, such as Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), reflecting changes in welfare policy and support systems.
