Disability Living Allowance

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a benefit provided by the UK government to help individuals with childhood disabilities or certain long-term health conditions cover the extra costs associated with their care and mobility needs. It is non-means-tested, meaning eligibility isn’t based on income or savings. DLA is divided into two parts: a care component for assistance with personal care tasks and a mobility component for help with moving around. Eligibility depends on the level of support required, determined through assessments of the individual's physical or mental condition. DLA supports increased independence and quality of life for those with disabilities.
