Incapacity Benefit
Incapacity Benefit was a UK social security payment provided to individuals who were unable to work due to illness or disability, offering financial support during periods of non-work. It aimed to help those with health issues maintain income when unable to earn through employment. The benefit has mostly been replaced by Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), which both assess health and work capability to determine ongoing support. Incapacity Benefit did not require work activity and was designed to support long-term or chronic conditions affecting a person’s ability to function at work.
