The Confederate States of America

The Confederate States of America (CSA) was a group of 11 southern U.S. states that seceded from the Union between 1860 and 1861, primarily over issues related to slavery and states' rights. This led to the American Civil War (1861-1865), as the Union fought to preserve itself and end slavery. The CSA was led by President Jefferson Davis and aimed to maintain its independence. After the war, the Confederacy was defeated, leading to its dissolution, the abolition of slavery, and significant social and political changes in the United States.
