The Byzantine History

Byzantine history refers to the Eastern Roman Empire, which continued after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD. Centered in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul), it thrived for nearly a thousand years, preserving Roman law and Greek culture. The Byzantines were known for their vibrant art, robust trade, and strong military, especially under Emperor Justinian, who sought to reconquer lost territories. Their history is marked by conflicts with Persia and Islam, internal strife, and cultural achievements. The empire ultimately fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, marking the end of Christian Byzantine rule in the region.
