Thai history

Thai history is rich and diverse, dating back over a thousand years. The Kingdom of Sukhothai, founded in the 13th century, is often considered the first Thai state, followed by the powerful Ayutthaya Kingdom, which flourished from the 14th to the 18th centuries. In 1767, Ayutthaya fell to Burmese invaders, leading to the establishment of the Rattanakosin Kingdom, centered in Bangkok. Thailand, formerly known as Siam, successfully modernized in the late 19th century, avoiding colonization. The 20th century saw political upheaval, including coups and a transition to democracy. Today, Thailand is known for its vibrant culture and significant tourism industry.
