Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya was the capital of the Kingdom of Siam (now Thailand) from the 14th to the 18th centuries. It was a major trading hub known for its impressive architecture, temples, and vibrant culture. The city was strategically located near the confluence of rivers, facilitating commerce with various countries. At its peak, Ayutthaya was one of the world’s largest urban areas. In 1767, it was destroyed by Burmese forces, leading to its decline.
