Jim Thompson was an American businessman and architect renowned for revitalizing the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. After moving to Thailand post-World War II, he established the Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company, which popularized Thai silk worldwide and significantly boosted the local economy. He also created a famous house in Bangkok, showcasing traditional Thai architecture, now a museum. Thompson mysteriously disappeared in 1967 while on a jungle walk in Malaysia, sparking various theories about his fate, but he remains a pivotal figure in the cultural and economic development of Thailand's silk trade.
