Thünen's Model

Thünen's Model, developed by Johann Heinrich von Thünen in the early 19th century, illustrates how agricultural land use varies based on distance from a central market. It proposes that different types of farming, such as dairy or grains, are located at specific distances from the market to maximize profit. Perishable goods like milk are produced close to the market, while less perishable items like grains are grown farther away, where land is cheaper. This model helps explain the arrangement of agricultural activities and land use based on transportation costs and proximity to urban centers.
