Thünen's Isolated State

Thünen's Isolated State is a model developed by the German economist Johann Heinrich von Thünen in the early 19th century. It describes how agricultural land use is organized around a central market in a hypothetical isolated community with no interactions with the outside world. According to Thünen, different types of farming (like dairy or grain) are located at varying distances from the market based on transportation costs and land use intensity. More perishable or valuable products are grown closer to the market, while less perishable goods are produced farther away. This concept helps us understand agricultural economics and land use patterns.
