Temple of Solomon
The Temple of Solomon, also known as the First Temple, was a sacred structure built in ancient Jerusalem around the 10th century BCE. According to biblical accounts, it was commissioned by King Solomon, the son of King David, to serve as a dwelling place for the Ark of the Covenant, which contained the Ten Commandments. The temple symbolized the central place of worship for the Israelites and represented their relationship with God. It was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, leading to significant religious and cultural implications for the Jewish people, including their diaspora and later hopes for restoration.
