Templar of France

The Templars of France, formally known as the Knights Templar, were a medieval Christian military order founded in the early 12th century. Initially established to protect pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land, they became powerful and wealthy, developing their own banking systems and vast estates. Over time, their influence grew, leading to suspicion and envy. In 1307, King Philip IV of France, deeply indebted to them, arrested many Templars, accusing them of heresy and other crimes. This marked the decline of the order, which was officially disbanded by Pope Clement V in 1312, leading to a lasting legacy in history and mythology.
