Tūhoe is an indigenous Māori iwi (tribe) from the Urewera region of New Zealand. Known for their strong cultural identity, Tūhoe have a deep connection to their land, known as Te Urewera, which is rich in natural beauty and resources. The tribe's history is marked by resilience, especially during colonization, which affected their land and way of life. In recent years, Tūhoe have sought to reclaim their rights and revitalize their culture, highlighted by the establishment of the Te Urewera National Park as a co-governed area.
