Synthetic judgments
Synthetic judgments are statements that add new information to what we already know, rather than merely clarifying or analyzing existing knowledge. For example, the statement "The cat is on the mat" provides new information about where the cat is, rather than defining what a cat or a mat is. In this context, synthetic judgments expand our understanding of the world by connecting different pieces of information, often requiring experience or observation to validate them. They contrast with analytic judgments, which are true by definition, like "A bachelor is an unmarried man," where no new information is added.
