Summary Jury Trial
A Summary Jury Trial (SJT) is an alternative dispute resolution method used to help parties in a legal dispute reach a settlement. In an SJT, a small jury hears a condensed version of the case, including key evidence and arguments, but does not make a binding decision. Instead, they provide an advisory verdict. This process is quicker and less formal than a traditional trial, allowing both sides to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of their cases. SJTs encourage negotiation and settlement by offering insight into how a jury might perceive the case based on limited information.
