Subacromial bursitis
Subacromial bursitis is a condition that involves inflammation of the subacromial bursa, a small fluid-filled sac located above the shoulder joint. This bursa helps reduce friction between the shoulder bones and surrounding tissues, allowing for smooth arm movement. When it becomes inflamed, usually due to overuse, injury, or repetitive overhead activities, it can cause shoulder pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion. Treatment often includes rest, ice, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory medications. In some cases, corticosteroid injections or surgery may be needed to relieve persistent symptoms and restore shoulder function.
