Stop-and-Wait ARQ

Stop-and-Wait ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) is a method used in data transmission where the sender transmits a single packet of data and then pauses to wait for an acknowledgment from the receiver. If the sender receives the acknowledgment, it sends the next packet. If no acknowledgment is received within a certain time frame, the sender assumes the packet was lost or corrupted and resends it. This method ensures reliable communication but can be slow, especially over long distances, as each packet must be confirmed before the next one is sent.
