spring tides

Spring tides are exceptionally high and low tides that occur when the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun align in a straight line, which happens during full moons and new moons. This alignment causes the gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun to combine, resulting in greater tidal ranges. As a result, during spring tides, you can expect unusually high tides that reach further inland and unusually low tides that expose more of the sea floor. Despite the name, spring tides occur year-round and are a natural part of the lunar cycle.
