tidal patterns

Tidal patterns are the regular rise and fall of sea levels caused mainly by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun. When the moon's gravity pulls on the Earth's oceans, it creates a high tide in the area facing the moon and on the opposite side as well. As the Earth rotates, different areas experience these high and low tides in a predictable cycle. The timing and height of tides can vary depending on geographic location, the positions of the moon and sun, and local geography, resulting in patterns like semi-diurnal (two high and two low tides daily) or diurnal (one high and one low tide daily).
