Spliceosome
A spliceosome is a complex molecular machine within cells that plays a crucial role in processing RNA. After DNA is transcribed into RNA, the original RNA often contains both coding regions (exons) and non-coding regions (introns). The spliceosome removes the introns and joins the exons together, creating a mature RNA strand. This mature RNA is essential for producing proteins, which perform various functions in the body. Essentially, the spliceosome helps ensure that the genetic code is accurately read to make the proteins that are vital for life.
