Specular reflection

Specular reflection is the process where light reflects off a smooth surface, like a mirror or still water, creating a clear, sharp image. When light hits such a surface, it bounces off at the same angle it arrived—this is known as the angle of incidence equaling the angle of reflection. This type of reflection allows us to see distinct reflections, as opposed to diffuse reflection, where light scatters off rough surfaces, resulting in a blurred image. Specular reflection is crucial in optics, photography, and everyday experiences like looking into a mirror.
