Soviet government

The Soviet government, officially known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a one-party state that existed from 1922 to 1991. It was based on communist principles, with the Communist Party controlling all aspects of political life. The government emphasized central planning and state ownership of the economy. Decisions were made by a series of councils and party officials, with the aim of creating a classless society. However, this often led to totalitarian practices, suppression of dissent, and limited personal freedoms. The Soviet Union was a significant global power and rival to the United States during the Cold War.
