Social War

The Social War, which occurred from 91 to 88 BCE in ancient Rome, was a conflict between the Roman state and its Italian allies, known as the Socii. The allies sought Roman citizenship and equal rights but were often denied these privileges despite their contributions to the Roman military and economy. The war resulted in significant battles and widespread destruction. Ultimately, it highlighted the inequalities within the Roman Republic, leading to reforms that granted citizenship to many Italian communities and set the stage for future political changes in Rome, including its transition from republic to empire.
