Sir Charles George
Sir Charles George, commonly known as Charles Gordon, was a British Army officer and administrator in the 19th century. He is best known for his role in the Sudan, particularly during the Siege of Khartoum in 1884-1885, where he defended the city against Sudanese forces. Gordon was seen as a national hero for his bravery and dedication, but he also faced criticism for his military strategies. Tragically, he was killed when the city fell in 1885, and his legacy remains marked by both admiration and controversy regarding his involvement in colonial conflicts.
