Sinoatrial Node

The sinoatrial (SA) node, often called the heart’s natural pacemaker, is a tiny cluster of specialized cells in the right atrium of the heart. It generates electrical signals that regulate the heart's rhythm, telling the heart when to contract and pump blood. These signals cause the atria to contract and then move to the ventricles, ensuring coordinated, efficient heartbeat. The SA node's automatic signaling maintains a regular heartbeat, typically around 60-100 beats per minute in healthy adults. It plays a crucial role in keeping the heart functioning properly and adapting to the body's needs during rest or activity.
