Single-use plastics
Single-use plastics are items made from plastic that are designed to be used once and then discarded. Common examples include plastic bags, straws, utensils, and food containers. While convenient, these products contribute significantly to environmental pollution, as they take hundreds of years to decompose and often end up in oceans and landscapes, harming wildlife and ecosystems. Many countries and communities are taking steps to reduce or ban the use of single-use plastics in favor of reusable alternatives to mitigate their environmental impact and promote sustainability.
