Shingrix
Shingrix is a vaccine designed to prevent shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It is recommended for adults aged 50 and older, as the risk of shingles increases with age. Shingrix is given in two doses, typically a few months apart, and is highly effective at reducing the risk of shingles and its complications, such as post-herpetic neuralgia, which can cause long-lasting pain. The vaccine is not made from live virus, making it a safe option for most people.
