Shannon's Theorem

Shannon's Theorem, developed by Claude Shannon, addresses how much information can be transmitted over a communication channel without error. It states that every channel has a maximum data rate, known as its "capacity," determined by its bandwidth and the noise present. Essentially, if the data rate stays below this capacity, reliable communication is possible. If data is sent too quickly or if there's too much noise, errors can occur, leading to incorrect information being received. This theorem is foundational in digital communication, influencing everything from telephones to the internet.
