Serge Haroche

Serge Haroche is a French physicist known for his groundbreaking work in quantum optics, which studies the interaction of light with matter at the quantum level. He has made significant contributions to understanding how photons (light particles) can be manipulated and measured, allowing scientists to explore the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics. Haroche's research has advanced fields such as quantum computing and quantum communication by demonstrating how to control and observe quantum states of light without destroying them. Together with colleague David Kleppner, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2012 for their innovative experiments in this area.
