Semi-arid Regions

Semi-arid regions are areas that receive limited rainfall, typically between 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) annually. This results in a climate that is drier than many other regions but not as extreme as deserts. These areas often have grasslands, shrubs, and a few trees, and they can support agriculture with proper irrigation. Commonly found in parts of Africa, Australia, and the southwestern United States, semi-arid regions experience distinct wet and dry seasons. Despite their challenges, they are crucial for biodiversity and agriculture and can offer unique ecosystems and landscapes.
