sedimentation basins

Sedimentation basins are large, typically shallow ponds used to treat water by allowing particles to settle out of it. As water flows into the basin, the speed decreases, allowing suspended solids, like dirt and debris, to sink to the bottom. This process results in cleaner water on top, which can be further treated or released into the environment. Sedimentation basins are commonly used in water treatment facilities, stormwater management, and construction sites to reduce pollution and improve water quality before it enters rivers or lakes.
