SeaLab
SeaLab was an ambitious underwater habitat project initiated by the U.S. Navy in the 1960s, designed for marine research and human endurance studies. It involved constructing facilities on the ocean floor where divers could live and work for extended periods, similar to astronauts in space. Crews conducted experiments on underwater life, marine biology, and the effects of deep-sea environments on humans. Despite facing challenges and only a few missions, SeaLab significantly advanced our understanding of underwater ecosystems and the future potential for human exploration of the ocean depths.
