Screen Actors Guild
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is a labor union representing professional actors and performers in film, television, and other media. Founded in 1933, its primary purpose is to advocate for fair wages, working conditions, and benefits for its members. SAG negotiates contracts with studios and production companies, ensuring that actors receive proper compensation and protections, such as health insurance and retirement plans. The union also promotes the rights and interests of performers, providing support in issues like discrimination and work safety. SAG merged with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) in 2012, forming SAG-AFTRA.
