AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists)

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) was a labor union representing performers in the entertainment industry, including actors, broadcasters, and recording artists. Founded in 1937, AFTRA aimed to protect the rights and interests of its members by negotiating contracts that ensured fair pay, working conditions, and benefits. In 2012, AFTRA merged with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to form SAG-AFTRA, which continues to advocate for the rights of artists in film, television, radio, and digital media, ensuring they receive fair treatment and compensation in their work.
