Saint Cyril of Alexandria
Saint Cyril of Alexandria was a prominent Christian theologian and the Patriarch of Alexandria in the 5th century. He is best known for his strong defense of the humanity and divinity of Christ, particularly at the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD, which opposed Nestorianism (the belief that Christ was two separate persons). Cyril's writings and teachings significantly shaped Christian doctrine, emphasizing the unity of Christ's nature. He is also noted for his role in the early Church's struggles against heretical beliefs and is recognized as a Doctor of the Church. His feast day is celebrated on June 27.
