Nestorius
Nestorius was a 5th-century Christian bishop known for his theological views, particularly his emphasis on the distinction between Jesus’ divine and human natures. He believed that Jesus was two separate persons—one divine and one human—united only in a special way, which led to controversy. His teachings were considered heretical by many church leaders because they appeared to deny the unity of Christ’s divine and human natures. This debate, known as the Nestorian Controversy, contributed to the development of Christological doctrines and the eventual separation of Nestorius’s followers from mainstream Christianity.
