Rulers of Bharatpur
The rulers of Bharatpur were the Maharajas of the princely state of Bharatpur, located in present-day Rajasthan, India. They belonged to the Jat community and established their dominance in the region in the 18th century. The most notable ruler was Maharaja Suraj Mal, known for his military prowess and enlightened administration. Under his leadership, Bharatpur became prosperous and gained significant influence. The state is famous for its impressive fortifications, especially the Lohagarh Fort, which withstood several British sieges.
