Robert Bork

Robert Bork was an influential American legal scholar and judge known for his conservative views and role in shaping constitutional law. He served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and was famously nominated to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1987. His nomination was highly controversial and ultimately rejected by the Senate, largely due to his views on civil rights and abortion. Bork’s legal philosophy emphasized originalism and restraint in judicial interpretation, and the term "Borking" emerged to describe politically motivated attacks on judicial nominees.
