RNA Polymerase
RNA polymerase is an enzyme that plays a essential role in gene expression by synthesizing RNA molecules from DNA templates. When a cell needs to produce a specific protein, RNA polymerase binds to a particular region of the DNA known as the promoter, unwinds the DNA strands, and then assembles a complementary strand of RNA using one of the DNA strands as a guide. This process, called transcription, results in an RNA copy of the gene, which can then be used to create proteins. RNA polymerase is vital for translating genetic information into functional biological molecules.
