Rill Erosion

Rill erosion is a form of soil erosion that occurs when water flows over a slope, creating small grooves or channels in the ground. These channels, known as rills, form as rainwater or surface runoff concentrates and starts to cut into the soil. Rill erosion typically happens on slopes with loose or poorly structured soil. While it may seem minor, it can lead to larger erosion problems over time, as these small channels deepen and expand, potentially damaging crops and landscapes. Managing water flow and vegetation can help prevent rill erosion.
