Reflux Esophagitis

Reflux esophagitis is an inflammation of the esophagus, the tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach. It occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This irritation can cause symptoms like heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and chest pain. Over time, if left untreated, it may lead to complications such as scarring or narrowing of the esophagus. Lifestyle changes, medications, and in some cases surgery can help manage the condition and reduce symptoms.
