Reflex arcs

A reflex arc is a quick, automatic response our body makes to certain stimuli, without involving the brain for processing. It involves three main parts: sensory neurons that detect the stimulus (like a hot surface), interneurons in the spinal cord that process the signal, and motor neurons that send commands to muscles (like pulling your hand away). This pathway allows for rapid reactions that protect us from injury, such as pulling away from something hot or sharp, occurring in milliseconds. The reflex arc ensures immediate action, bypassing the conscious brain to prioritize speed and safety.
