Raden Ajeng Kartini

Raden Ajeng Kartini (1879-1904) was an Indonesian national heroine and a pioneer for women's rights and education. Born into a Javanese noble family, she challenged the traditional roles assigned to women in her society. Kartini advocated for girls' education and sought to empower women through knowledge and self-awareness. She famously corresponded with Dutch figures, expressing her views on gender equality and social reform. Her letters, published posthumously, inspired future generations in Indonesia to pursue women's rights. Kartini is celebrated annually on April 21 in Indonesia, known as Kartini Day, honoring her contributions to the advancement of education and gender equality.
