Queen Mary II
Queen Mary II was a monarch of England, Scotland, and Ireland, reigning from 1689 until her death in 1694. Born in 1662, she was the daughter of King James II. Mary became queen alongside her husband, William III, after they overthrew her father in the Glorious Revolution, which aimed to secure Protestant rule. Their joint reign established constitutional monarchy in England, reducing the powers of the monarchy in favor of Parliament. Mary was known for her piety and support of the Church of England. She died young, at just 32, due to smallpox.
