Lady Jane Grey
Lady Jane Grey was a young noblewoman who briefly reigned as Queen of England in 1553, following the death of Edward VI. Her claim to the throne was promoted by political rivals who saw her as a Protestant alternative to the Catholic Mary I. However, her reign lasted only nine days before Mary’s supporters gained power. Jane was arrested and eventually executed for treason at age 16. Her brief reign and tragic fate highlight the complex political and religious conflicts of 16th-century England.
