Qajar Dynasty

The Qajar Dynasty ruled Iran from 1789 to 1925. Established after the fall of the Safavid Empire, the Qajars were a Turkic tribe that rose to power and made Tehran their capital. Their reign was marked by struggles against foreign influence, particularly from Russia and Britain, leading to significant territorial losses. The dynasty faced internal strife and modernization efforts, including the Constitutional Revolution in 1905, which aimed to limit royal power and establish a parliament. Ultimately, the Qajars were overthrown by the Pahlavi Dynasty, which sought to modernize Iran rapidly. The Qajar era significantly shaped Iran’s history and identity.
