Proximity sensor
A proximity sensor is a device that can detect the presence of nearby objects without physical contact. Commonly used in smartphones, these sensors can tell when you are holding the phone to your ear, automatically turning off the screen to prevent accidental touches. They work by emitting an electromagnetic field or a beam of electromagnetic radiation, such as infrared light, and measuring changes when an object comes close. Proximity sensors are also used in various applications, including automotive safety systems, security alarms, and smart home devices, enhancing convenience and safety in everyday technology.
