Prolapse
Prolapse occurs when an organ slips from its normal position, often due to weakened muscles or ligaments. Commonly, this affects organs like the bladder, uterus, or rectum, leading to discomfort or issues with function. For example, uterine prolapse happens when the uterus descends into the vagina. Symptoms can include pressure, pain, or difficulties with bodily functions. Prolapse is often linked to factors such as childbirth, aging, or obesity, and treatment may involve lifestyle changes, pelvic floor exercises, or, in some cases, surgery to restore the organ’s position.
