Philip Sheridan

Philip Sheridan was a prominent Union general during the American Civil War, known for his aggressive tactics and effective cavalry leadership. Born in 1831, he played key roles in significant battles, including the Battle of Cedar Creek, where his quick thinking turned a potential defeat into victory. After the war, he served as a military commander in the West, where he implemented policies against Native American tribes to secure land for settlers. Sheridan is often remembered for his famous quote, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian," reflecting the harsh realities of his time. He died in 1888.
